Hi, I’m David.
I make stuff…beautiful, useful, and/or useless stuff.
Just about everything I’ve ever made has been an answer to a question, a solution to a specific problem, or the result of simply asking myself, “What if?”.
My practical skills include woodworking, drawing and painting. I have increasing proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp and other design software. I have always taken pride in my ability to work with what I have.
Several years ago, I participated in the Wilmington Creative District’s Public Art Prep Program (PAPP). In addition to learning a variety of new skills specific to the Philadelphia-method of mural production, I was introduced to some wonderful people. The work we did together sparked my interest in public/street art and got me drawing again. This experience also made me realize how settled I’ve become and how narrow my focus had been. Since then, I’ve been pushing myself to learn new things by reading, attending workshops, traveling, cooking, and by just simply trying and allowing myself to fail.
I was fortunate to be awarded the opportunity to be one of the first members of NextFab in Wilmington, Delaware. There I was introduced to the Universal Laser. It’s a powerful tool that cuts and engraves a variety of materials and allowed me to take my work into a whole new direction.
Today, I work out of NextFab in Downtown Wilmington or my home in Arden, Delaware.
If you’re looking for an exploration of the human condition, you’re not going to find it here. If you want to see what happens when ideas, skills, and technology combine to solve a problem, answer a question, or make something beautiful…I’m glad you’re here.
